Xaviar Babudar loves the Chiefs so much, he attends games dressed in a furry wolf costume complete with wolf mask. Often wearing brightly colored team gear on top.

He also may have broken the law a few times. The U.S. Department of Justice summarizes a stack of 19 charges across eight states. ChiefsAholic is accussed of a string of bank and credit union robberies – sometimes armed – beginning in March 2022, and laundering money through Missouri casinos in order to fund his superfan lifestyle. ESPN+ shared a true crime special “Where Wolf: The Search for ChiefsAholic” in November 2023.

Originally, he pleaded not guilty to all these charges, but just today (Feb. 28) we received major update. Babudar pleaded guilty to one charge each of money laundering, transporting stolen property across state lines, and bank robbery in Oklahoma.

A statement from his lawyer, Matthew Merryman, is filled with football metaphors:

The judge on the case will hand down Babudar’s prison sentence on July 10. KCTV5 reports:

Babudar faces up to 50 years in prison when he is sentenced. He is also required to pay $532,000 in restitution and forfeit an autographed painting of Patrick Mahomes.

Here’s a tweet from ESPN about the premiere of the “Where Wolf” special last fall.
