During a Monday press conference via Zoom, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced that the team will fly to Frankfurt, Germany this Thursday night ahead of their much-anticipated week 9 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. When one reporter asked why the Chiefs were waiting until Thursday to travel while the Dolphins made the journey on Monday, here’s what Coach Reid said:

Everybody does it a little different. We did this a couple years ago when we went to London [in 2015]. I’ve done it before with other teams. It worked, so I’ve kinda stuck by it. I’m not sure there’s any right or wrong way.

This Chiefs/Dolphins matchup was already highly anticipated. Emotions will be high as former Chiefs wide reciever Tyreek Hill, traded to Miami ahead of the 2022 season, will face his former team for the first time.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are coming off their worst game of the season with 24-9 loss at the Denver Broncos during which the team committed five turnovers. And with both teams sitting at 6-2 records, results of this game could have playoff implications later this season.

Some subjects of Chiefs Kingdom might be disappointed by the game’s location. The Chiefs are the home team of record in this NFL International Series matchup. If the game were held in the states, GEHA Field At Arrowhead Stadium would have hosted the Cheetah’s return to Kansas City.
