Watch Robert Plant Dust Off ‘Stairway To Heaven’ For A Great Cause

During Andy Taylor’s charity livestream, Robert Plant performed “Stairway To Heaven” for the first time since 2007.

Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor credits nearly miraculous scientific breakthroughs for helping him survive his battle with late stage prostate cancer. He also shows immense gratitude to Sir Chris Evans and the Cancer Awareness Trust for reaching out with help to navigate treatment options during one of the most confusing and frightning times any person could experience.

With that cancer fight now in the rear view, Taylor is paying it forward. He gathered friends for a livestream concert to accompany a charity auction. The biggest musical headline from the event was Robert Plant’s performance of “Stairway To Heaven” for perhaps – according to our research on setlist.fm – the first time in a “solo” capacity. Led Zeppelin last performed it in 2007.

Here’s a link to the full livestream which includes a handful of pretty cool performances and cameos. Andy Taylor leads an almost garage rock version of “Hungry Like The Wolf” at the 21:30 mark. He also led covers of Rod Stewart and Robert Palmer during the set. Robert Plant arrives at about 44:00 and also performed Zep classics “Thank You” and “Whole Lotta Love”, plus a cover of Donovan’s “Season of the Witch”.

If you nerd out about all-star backing lineups and want to know who else was involved, here ya go!
